PRESS RELEASE

Editors of West Africa magazine Launch Africa Week magazine and africaweekmagazine.com in London
Trans Africa Publishing Company Limited is proud to announce the launch of an exciting media project for Africa - Africa Week magazine and africaweekmagazi

The editors stated: "We have been forced to launch Africa Week and africaweekmagazine.com because we believe that we owe it to dedicated readers, and Africa as a whole, to continue the sterling work we did at West Africa magazine."
"We have been personally impressed and moved by the support shown by our dedicated readers and friends who backed us during this period of neglect by the owners of West Africa magazine, who have also refused to acknowledge letters or operate within the requirements of UK employment laws and procedures."
Africa Week and africaweekmagazine.com will cover African affairs and issues that impinge on the continent every week on the internet at www.africaweekmagazine.com and every month in a Special Print Edition that will include special country, industrial and other reports. This Special Print Edition will be sent out to our subscribers each month as a bonus for subscribing to the weekly online magazine.
The Special Print Edition will also be made available each month to subscribers and our loyal readers who do not as yet have access to the internet or prefer to have only the print edition. We assure our readers, subscribers and friends that Africa Week and africaweekmagazine.com will not disappoint. Indeed, it has become clearly obvious to us that there is a need for a medium that would provide total coverage of Africa. We want to be a medium that will provide knowledge to Africans in order to strengthen their voices. We will, also through Africa Week and africaweekmagazine.com provide an information-sharing network that will be of benefit to Africa, its institutions, governments, businesses and other organisations worldwide.

Africa Week's editors are leading a team of correspondents and academics who will provide incomparable insights into a continent that is anything but predictable. We will give you in-depth coverage of politics, social issues, economics, the continent's debt and, of course, the conflicts that tend to bedevil Africa. Our standards of journalism will be of the highest order and our analysis will maintain the candid rigour that we have become known for at West Africa magazine.
Our columnists will also give our readers a fascinating mix of insights, views and ideas. They will offer a range of sharp and critical analysis of issues that are of utmost importance to Africa. They will provoke and will not come from the same political school of thought.
Another appealing aspect of Africa Week and africaweekmagazine.com is that we will have a special section that will cover Asian business and financial news. There is no denying that Asia has made considerable economic progress against all the odds. We want Africa to emulate the Asian success story. There is a lot Africans can learn from Asian businesses and financial management and work ethic.
Advertisers will find Africa Week and africaweek magazine.com an excellent medium through which they can reach their target markets. Advertisers in our Special monthly Print Edition will also have the benefit of having their advertisements featured on our website at africaweekmagazine.com. They will ultimately benefit from the information sharing and intelligent business networking initiatives that we are pioneering in our publications. We will also offer excellent cost-effective advertising at highly competitive and attractive rates. The bottom line being value, benefit and international exposure.

Note to Editors
1.
West Africa magazine was published by Afrimedia International Limited, UK based subsidiary of state owned Graphic Communications Group of Ghana and Media Africa Group, UK. West Africa magazine ceased publication in August 2003 as a result of a dispute between the owners of the publication. Neither side has handled this dispute competently or with resolve. As a result, staff, loyal readers and subscribers, many of whom had been subscribers for over 30 years have been left high and dry.
2.
Africa Week magazine and africaweekmagazine.com is published by Trans Africa Publishing Company Limited, a company run by the editors of West Africa magazine.
3.
This media project has been established as a result of the lack of interest shown by the owners of West Africa magazine in continuing with the operations of the 85-year old publication. The May Print Edition is available on the newsstands worldwide.
